Never again – I once said.

They would never touch me.

Never hurt me.

Never break my heart.

Alone keeps me safe.

Alone keeps me healthy.

So, I wake up and put a smile on.

I go to class. To work. To sleep.

In the middle I have conversations:

“How’s the weather?”

“I can’t stand the cold.”

“Yeah, me either. Have a nice day.”

But no one gets close.

I can’t afford it.

Not anymore.

Never again.
