Tattoo

You signed my name on your body

Dangling the J and curling the Y

It’s permanent,

You said,

Promising it wouldn’t wash away.

But I noticed when it faded

And when you drew it on again.

You let it fade completely now.

You got tired of redrawing–

Pretending–that it–I– was permanent.

You signed my name on your body–

But I carved your name into mine.
