JAKE the Mag

Another 2 of my poems came out this month in JAKE the Mag. I love these two poems and am so grateful they are out in the world.

The first is “Crutches”, written after Nikki Giovanni’s poem, “Crutches”. IT was also inspired by my experience growing up in the church and how manipulative pastor’s can be to get money while not really offering real help to people.

The other poem is called “Generational Addictions” and oh boy. I LOVE LOVE this poem. I was reflecting on things I was told are “sins” that run in the family, then renamed it to addictions. This is a queer, sinful, poem that is heavy in imagery. I hope you enjoy them!
